I know that you may have read or heard  this  a thousand times before but i believe its important enough to say again.
Remember to help & encourage all newcomers young or old to enjoy our sport

Always fish safely for your good & that of your quarry  & remember to follow all fishery rules

If you have the misfortune to meet any "anti's"  don't let them goad you into a confrontation call the police & remember you are on the right side of the law!

If you see any sign of pollution call the Environment Agency  immediately don't leave it until its to late remember anglers are the eyes & ears of the EA  & they would rather have a hundred calls than none!!

Most importantly  above all else enjoy your self

As this site is for fishing in & around Stafford I think it is appropriate that Staffords greatest son and the author of  "The Compleat angler or The contemplative mans recreation" should appear on the front page.

So here is a picture of  the statue made in honour of  Sir Izaak Walton the patron saint of anglers.

If you have never seen this statue it is standing on Izaak Walton walk which runs along the bank of the river Sow  in Victoria park (or the town park as it is known locally).

If you ever get the chance go & see this  statue because the detail is fantastic the only thing i don't like is the fact it looks like Izaak is holdng a "shark fishing rod" due to the  some mindless yobs thinking it would be funny to destroy the original rod which was a fantastic copy of a cane rod that is in the Izaak Walton museum at his cottage in Shallowford just outside Stafford.
